Ducati Panigale- New Flagship Superbike.
The Ducati 1299 Panigale world premiered at the ongoing EICMA 2014 motorcycle show. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the world’s largest two wheeler expo.
Ducati 1299 Panigale, the new flagship Ducati Panigale superbike, incorporates minor design changes compared to the 1199 Ducati Panigale such as a wider fairing with larger windscreen, revised tailpiece and comfier seat. The agility and rear traction has been improved thanks to a tweaked steering head angle and lowered fork pivot (by 4 mm).
The Ducati 1199 Panigale’s powerplant has been rebored to increase the displacement to 1,285 cc. The bigger displacement results in an astounding power output of 205 hp at 10,500 rpm and 144 Nm of torque at 8,750 rpm. The Ducati Panigale and Panigale S will adopt the new engine while the Panigale R will continue with the old unit in order to stay eligible for competing in the World Superbike Championship.
The old unit is also tuned to produce 205 hp, however the torque ouput is lower than the bigger engine. Both the motors come mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a wet multiplate slipper clutch.
The Ducati 1299 Panigale S is fitted with an Ohlins semi-active Smart EC suspension system with adjustable USD front fork and rear monoshock. The Ducati Panigale motorcycle comes packed with IMU, DDA+ (GPS compatible), ABS, DWC, DQS, DTC, Cornering ABS, and EBC. Braking is provided by Brembo discs with standard ABS.
