The Privately owned British auction House, Bonhams was founded way back in the year 1793 and is among the oldest and the biggest fine art and antiques auctioneer of the world. Bonhams is also a well known name in automobile auctioning world and especially for its annual auction of rare vintage Aston Martin’s. With every year of Bonhams Aston Martin Works Auction proving to be bigger than the previous one, it is for sure has become the perfect place for collectors in hunt or vintage Aston Martin’s of the world. For this year’s Bonhams, which will be the auctions 17th year, the iconic 1953 Aston Martin DB3S that was driven by Sir Sterling Moss is expected to fetch a staggering £7m.
Along with the iconic British racer Sir Stirling Moss, this particular has also seen itself shifted through its paces by the legendary names such as Tony Brooks, Peter Collins and Roy Salvadori. With such great names who have owned this particular car that is among one of the rare 11 works cars that were ever built for the Worlds Sportscar Championship back in the early 50’s. However, this 1953 Aston Martin DB3S hasn’t just been a priced possession of great and famous owners but this 1953 Aston Martin DB3S has raced at world class racing events such as the Mille Miglia, the Spa Grand Prix and the legendary Nürburgring 1,000kms.
Along with this ultra rare and super expensive 1953 Aston Martin DB3S, the rest of the lot at the 2016 Bonhams Aston Martin Works auction consists for more iconic Aston Martins such as the 1962 DB4 Convertible which is expected to fetch £1.5 million, an ultra rare and one of only five right-hand-drive example of the 1963 DB4 Series V Vantage Convertible, and the auction will also have one of the rarest post-war Aston Martins in the world, the 1968 DB6 Mark I Volante.
The 2016 Bonhams Aston Martin Works auction consisting of the 1953 Aston Martin DB3S along with other Aston Martin of the times gone by will be held on May 21st, 2016.
