When the Veyron first launched in 2005, it redefined what made a hypercar. It met its brief of being the fastest, most technologically advanced car ever made and has since spawned a hypercar arms race of sorts; with everyone from Koenigsegg to Hennessy trying to beat the high standards this car set. Consequently, replacing the Veyron was never going to be an enviable task, but Bugatti have managed to go one up on themselves in this regard.
First shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016, the Bugatti Chiron proved to be an improvement in every aspect. It was quicker still, looked nicer and was better to drive. This meant that the most of the 500 unit production run was quickly sold out.
Which brings us squarely to the car seen here, available for auction at RM Sotheby’s New York sale. This is a completely new, unregistered 2018 car with only 250 factory test miles on the clock. It’s the first Bugatti Chiron to have been imported into the USA and hasn’t ever been driven on public roads. This also means that its factory extended warranty is still active. The black and red colour scheme with matching interiors and brake calipers further increases its appeal.
This is unique opportunity to own a piece of modern automotive history, and for some of the folks who missed out on putting their names in the order books the first time around, a chance to finally fix that. Photos via RM Sotheby’s
