Monterey – 18 August 2017
The final event of a very busy day ended on lots of highs… High speed, high price and high volume of people, all packed in a small space. Exotic cars on Cannery Row attracts a lot of attention, it’s no surprise, the road is filled to the brim with the finest and fastest the world has to currently offer.
I was met by a matt green metallic Mercedes AMG GT-R also on its way to the show. The colour popped against the overcast evening, allowed my eyes to re-calibrate to the saturated eye-candy I was about to witness. Entering from my position, the first display car to greet me was a vibrant yellow Alfa Romeo 4C Spyder on a red carpet.
Walking past the row of various boy dream cars, a Lamborghini Centenario grabbed my, and everyone in close proximities attention. This was the first one not in black paint I’ve seen, really love the aggressiveness of the rear diffuser/aero fins.
There was an impressive collection of Pagani Huaryas parked together and section off from the eager crowd. Just across the street, a row of various Koenigseggs competed for attention.
Wandering further in, 3 Ferrari F50s occupied a corner of a car park. What a time to be alive! There were some obligatory attendants like a Veyron, an Enzo, and of course the mighty Ferrari F40.
I hardly ever take shots of people, but I made an exception for Valentino Balboni. I first spotted the RWD Gallardo’s distinctive white and gold stripe, then looked up to spot him signing things for fans.
