At the latest concluded CES 2016, BMW introduced a laser powered headlight and helmet with a display which are currently used in 7 series and their latest i8. Nowadays, giant companies who are introducing laser powered headlights are also taking onto events like the CES which is a show for electronics. This isn’t the first time where the automotive sector is linking with an event which is electronic-centric. Automotive industries do not hesitate to go gung-ho in events like these to initiate a move to introduce their latest electronics; where this German giant also did not fail to participate and pull the crowd to introduce these two innovative technologies to prep up the safety for motorcyclists as well.
The BMW K 1600 GTL concept vehicle which the BMW Motorrad laser light, is the result of years of development to optimise the motorcyclists’ safety. This already available laser light in the 7 series as mentioned earlier is being tested on the BMW K 1600 GTL concept vehicle, has a range of 600 meters which is twice as the range of conventional headlights and is said to come with a very long service life because of its compact & robust design.
The head-up display in the helmet is one more innovation from BMW which has a capability to give riders essential details of traffic or vehicle information in the field of view without any distraction; as said by BMW.
