This latest build from Caiman Custom Motorcycles is yet another fresh take on the Honda CX500. The atelier consists of a limited passionate team of highly skilled professionals, and is based out of Bryanston, South Africa. At a glance, this Honda CX500 from Caiman Custom Motorcycles looks more robust, rugged and is meant for places that are rather roughed up.
One of the major reasons this team chose a Honda CX500 is because of its wonderful frame which gives a lot of scope to modify the rear suspension, subframe and seat. Hence, they used a Yamaha YZ250 shock with an upgraded spring to replace the twin rear shocks with mono conversion keeping the front end and the fuel tank as it is. While a set of tracker bars, Acewell speedo and a smaller headlight took place in the front, the airbox and the wiring which sat below the subframe at the rear was taken off. The turn indicators and side mounted tail come from the cruisers’ pedigree, which suited very well on the Caiman Custom Honda CX500. While the wheels were powder coated in black, the tank was painted in dual-tone paint and the frame in brown.
