While everyone might be thrilled by the idea of camping, the annoyances that have to be dealt with have to do with carrying the rather bulky equipment, setting it up and then packing it all once done. Cooking equipment, camping furniture, sleeping bags, tents, etc. must be packed efficiently or it can be damaged easily in transit. On the other hand, you can buy an expensive caravan and have all the wonders during your camping, but then, these caravans are boring slow, and un-interesting for someone looking for an adventurous drive along with their camping excursion. For such lot, there is the mighty Land Rover Defender Motorhome which is fast, quick and gives you pretty much everything that you need during camping. Furthermore, a German company QUQUQ, has created a product to boost one’s camping experience multifold by providing a unique solution that can seamlessly integrate with the Land Rover Defender. Make way for the D-Box, a simplified conversion kit for camper vans from QUQUQ.
Multi-day expeditions are no more a distant dream in the Land Rover Defender camper. QUQUQ has engineered this camper conversion kit quite resourcefully, leaving no traces of hassle during camping. They had done a similar conversion kit as G-Box for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class last year and it provided a wonderful aid for those who wanted to camp in the outdoors. The D-Box in the Defender is infused with overnight capabilities by providing foldable sleeping mattress, cooking and storing facilities on the go.
The layout of the D-Box Land Rover Defender Motorhome is quite similar to the G-Box for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. This kit weighs only 143lb (65kgs) which is a main storage box below the rear seating area. To have a peaceful sleep, the mattress sits on top of the box all the way towards the front seats. This Land Rover Defender conversion kit gives you enough space to stretch your legs, almost 49×76.75 inches. Furthermore, cook all those delicious meals in front of a lake as you also get a dual-burner stove with storage, two 10-litre jugs for juices/water, two bowls and a small worktop.
Main components used in designing this camping wonder is water-resistant wood that has reinforced aluminium joints at the edges to bolt it securely. Be it rainy or snowy outdoor camping experience, the kit works fantastic and is quite durable after the amount of technology invested in its development. The whole kit measures 28.7 x 16.5 x 30 inches and two people are enough to install it in the car. I guess this is where the kit earns special brownie points for having characteristics of easy transportation.
It may be slightly off course as of today because the Defender’s production stopped last year, however, you may come across a good Land Rover Defender for sale almost everywhere in abundance, so finding buyers for this conversion kit isn’t quite difficutl. In addition, QUQUQ estimates that 70% of all Defenders have not seen the camping dirt and are still lying in the garage. With a price tag of $2,770 which is similar to the G-Box on the G-Class, I think QUQUQ have pulled off a fantastic job in designing this Land Rover Defender camping conversion kit. And according to QUQUQ, the whole kit takes roughly about 2 minutes for installation or removal. However, you might have to wait a bit as QUQUQ plans to launch this kit in the Abenteuer & Allrad show in June 2017.
