Nürburgring is not just an iconic race track where legends have been born but over the years, it has also become one of the most important proving grounds for cars that want to be known for their fire-breathing power and insane performance. In fact, this tradition has become so significant that a really fast lap time around the green hell becomes an instant marketing tool that fetches right sort of eyeballs and cheques. Among one of those rare manufacturers who have set this iconic track ablaze with its product is Donkervoort, this small company based out of Netherlands makes street legal limited run sports cars and has the honour of setting the fastest lap time around Nordschleife in 2004 and 2006. A decade later, Donkervoort is setting itself up for another attempt to lap the green hell faster than anyone has ever done before and they want to do it with their latest Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS.

A progression from the old D8-GTO, the Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS comes with all the knowledge the company has gained in the past decade. The Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS wears a fire-breathing 2500cc straight five cylinder engine which is turbocharged and is supplied by Audi and is the same unit that powered the previous generation Audi TT-RS and sees collaboration with Bosch to fine tune the powertrain to suit vigorous track use. Interestingly, just like its predecessors, the Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS D8 GTO-RS is also street legal, since it arrives with an engine that is Euro 6 emissions compliant. The latest Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS arrives with a much wider track than the old D8 GTO and an improved braking performance promising a much faster lap times around its hunting ground for which it has been designed for, the Nürburgring.

Dressed obviously in a lot of carbon fiber and leather, the Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS isn’t targeting any creature comfort glory, whereas it should mean that the company might be able to bring this car at a weight lesser than the D8-GTO’s 1532 pounds, however, the company is yet to disclose any specifications for the Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS. But, what the company has declared is that the company will produce only 40 units of the Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS and the car will retail at an understandable sky high price of $174,000 for every single of these sleek and devilish Donkervoort D8 GTO-RS. In case, you have got that sort of money waiting to buy you a new track weapon, do remember, 21 of the 40 units to be produced have already been accounted for.
