For many people the whole custom motorcycle scene is hard to understand, we usually forgive those. But for all those who love this whole idea of a world that loves and understand the intricacies of custom motorcycle building, we present to you an immaculate piece of craftsmanship in the form of this utterly gorgeous Ducati 749S Custom by deBolex. The United Kingdom based custom motorcycle building company deBolex Engineering is a brain child of Calum Pryce-Tydd who never wanted to be considered as just another custom builder out in the market. For the same Calum moved ahead from the couple of beautifully done Honda CB750 build’s to seek new tougher challenges and to learn more. Calum even turned down work to pursue bigger challenges and this stunning Ducati 749S Custom by deBolex is a fruit of his immense dedication to do something more and something different from the usual custom scene.
Calum is supported by the master upholsterer and fabricator Des Francis from the region who has been with deBolex Engineering since early days, together these two have created this amazing work craftsman ship in the form of the Ducati 749S Custom by deBolex along with their previous works too. The story of this Ducati 749S Custom by deBolex came into being when, Gerry came up to Calum and said that he wanted a deBolex custom build and it had to be an Italian machine. Starting with this simple brief added by the fact that Gerry didn’t want to spend his money poor condition bike that went for a cutom job, this meant Calum had to search long and far enough to finally get his hands on a Ducati 749S that had low mileage on it from Linconshire. Calum then carried on by laying the whole bike bare on the shop floor meaning that the previous owners beautiful work to keep the bike as new as possible became evident. This meant tthat now Calum and Des could worry less about the bikes condition and concentrate of building a bike that Gerry would feel proud of.
In order to make this a semi-faired example Calum added this beautiful looking belly pan to the build that contains the electricals on its left while oil cooler is set back a bit while keeping its middle position and the exhaust header of the front cylinder now runs along the right side. A super wide aluminium tank was then added to this Ducati 749S Custom by deBolex in order to embrace the original bikes sturdy design and its trellis chassis, a particularly tough thing to deal with in case of Ducati custom builds. The rear subframe and seat are all new and made out of aluminium. The Alcantara seat pad is fastened to its position by a neat single fastener and the stitching on the seat can very well shame most of the factory spec ones in the market. The Ducati 749S Custom by deBolex gets a small Shorai lithium battery installed in the tail end meaning it can be use for easy trickle charge access.
The beautiful and small nose fairing is also made out of Aluminium and its densely packed state meant that along with the Motogadget tacho and radiator header tank no place was left for any of night illumination meaning a discussion with Gerry later, this unique looking Ducati 749S Custom by deBolex became a strict day time use bike.
