The Indian ride/drive season marks its beginning with the opening of the passes high up in the Himalayas on the onset of summer each year. Now, a Pune based company, well known to provide self-drive expedition services, Epique Adventures, flagged off their first batch for Epique Himalayan 2017 expedition from Golden Tulip in Panchkula, a satellite industrial town of Chandigarh. During this 12 day expedition, the participants drove through the Panchkula-Shimla-Kinnaur-Kaza-Jispa-Sarchu-Leh-Nubra-Leh-Jispa-Manali route. Epique tells us that the drive expedition will see the whole convoy with five vehicles stay at each of the aforementioned cities for a night. However, Leh being the major attraction during this part of Indian summers, the Epique Himalayan 2017 will stay at the location for an additional day. The expedition will end at Manali.
The participants of the Epique Himalayan 2017 not only got to witness the pristine beauty of the mighty Himalayas up close but also experienced the challenging off-road trails of Manali-Leh Highway. With a team of experts from Epique also travelling with the participants, new driving skills were shared among the group as well. AT the famous, More Plains few participants experienced clocking some serious speeds on a wide dirt road for the first time. Interestingly, there were a few that learned to make donuts at high altitudes, impressive.
For such self-drive expeditions, Epique has one lead and one trailing vehicle while being the only company that takes trained doctor, emergency medical equipment, and an automobile technician along with them for the trips. With only one time package costs involved, the participants get to have the comforts of luxury hotels and tents stay with three meals a day among others. The good part is, the participants also get fuel, toll, permits and taxes in the same package as well, which is indeed a great and so far a unique thing being offered.
The first batch of the Epique Himalayan 2017 had a total of 10 participants of which there were six Malaysian residents while three were from Pune and one from Chandigarh. With this trip being the first Leh trip for most, it would have been a great experience. The next fun, all stuff included Epique expedition is being scheduled for Bhutan and is called Epique Bhutan, for more details on the same, you can visit Epique Adventures.
