The last mid-mounted, naturally-aspirated, V8 engine to ever go into a Ferrari, the 458 Italia’s 4.5-litre was somewhat of a momentous feat of engineering that received several awards, including the “Best Performance Engine” and the “Above 4-litre” category at the 2011 International Engine of the Year awards.

This beauty was capable of reaching an eardrum-shattering 9000 rpm, the first road-legal engine of its type to do so. For those who like themselves a piece of this record-breaking engine can now fancy themselves one for their living room. This near-brand new complete Ferrari 458 Italia engine that was never allocated to any chassis comes with a stand and goes on sale at the RM Sotheby’s Monaco 2018 auction for those who are looking for a 458 engine as art decor or as a spare for making maybe yet another GT4586.
