If you love BMW or racing cars even the slightest, you’re going to enjoy this video. It’s raw and it’s pure in every sense of the words. It features a BMW M3 E30 DTM being driven around the Nurburgring in a manner that suggests total and complete dedication from the driver. Although it is the Oldtimer Grand Prix, one of the biggest and most popular vintage and classic car events that take place each year at the Nurburgring,Jonathan Cecotto, doesn’t spare the car one bit. He goes all out, letting us hear the lovely-sounding BMW M3 E30 DTM, as well as showing off his enviable skills in the video below.
The BMW M3 E30 is, as most of you know, one of the greatest performance sedans ever made. In fact, it’s probably everyone’s favourite M-car to this very day. The DTM version it spawned though is arguably even greater. Based on the road-going M3, it features DTM-bespoke aero, a stripped out interior, tweaked suspension, and an upgraded version of the 2.3-Litre S14 powerplant making 191 horsepower. In the car’s later life, the engine was bored out to 2.5-liters to produce 234 horsepower.
Competing with Mercedes’ 190 EVO and Alfa’s 155 V6 TI back in the day, the car looks just as fast and capable today as it did back then. Press play and have a listen. If that’s not one of the best sounding four-cylinders of all time, I don’t know what is.
