Spy photos of a cafe racer styled motorcycle have recently been spotted of what appears to be prototype of a single-cylinder machine that has a KTM 690 engine and chassis. While the riding gear and helmet on the rider might suggest that the motorcycle on test is a KTM, the H-branded gloves and overall cafe racer styling of the prototype indicates heavily towards a new Husqvarna motorcycle.
Further, the cafe racer styling also lines up with the direction that the brand has been projected to take. Earlier in a few interviews, Husqvarna’s new owner and KTM CEO, Stefan Pierer has mentioned that the company’s bikes would take to the “New Classic” theme that would give their new lineup of motorcycle a old-school styling but with modern internals (read more here).
According to the nomenclature that the company usually follows, this new motorcycle could be branded as the Husqvarna 701 Cafe Racer. The styling seems to have been inspired from the 401 Svartpilen and Vitpilen concepts which were showcased at the 2014 EICMA motor show. While the 401 motorcycles are slated to use the KTM 390 Duke engine, the Husqvarna 701 spied would be using KTM 690 Duke engine that produces 67 bhp of power.
