Inspiration leads to passion, and passion leads to creativity. Jay Hayden is one such soul who has been seeking inspiration from the Trusty Land Rover Defender, even before his foot could reach the pedals. It was his lust for adventure combined with the ultimate go-anywhere capability of the Landy that turned his inspiration into passion, which with time developed into a desire to setup his very own atelier, for customising defenders. His firm called 31MM Adventure Vehicles aims to cater to those who share his mindset of adventure and similar passion for Land Rovers.
The Land Rover Defender AV One is the first build to come from 31MM. Based on a 2007 Defender TD5, this blacked out Land Rover acquires everything that Jay learned from his pursuit of Industrial Design which he previously had to put application while working in the Land Rover tuning industry. The Land Rover Defender AV One uses the Landy’s 2.5-litre engine that is now paired with a hybrid-performance turbocharger, a turbo boost module, retuned ECU and a performance intercooler… all of which combined takes the total power output of the AV One to 220 bhp. The underpinnings get upgraded with Old Man EMU Sport shock absorbers and 2-inch coil springs. To give the Defender an adventure-worthy oomph, Jay has used ARB front and rear locking differentials along with GKN wide angle propshafts.
