The artist at Yamaha’s Paper Craft team have recently revealed a collection of awesome origami models showcasing their Dakar rally heritage. The models are made entirely out of paper and the company is releasing full printable templates and instructions for people to make their own displays, which by going by the details is going to require a really steady hand and tons of patience.
This is the second time Yamaha has released these series of elaborate racing displays, first being last year that commemorated Valentino Rossi’s iconic pass on Casey Stoner at Laguna Seca’s Corkscrew during the 2008 U.S Grand Prix.
Released just before the start of the 2015 Dakar Rally, the displays feature the 1995 Paris-Dakar Rally winning Yamaha XT850R and the 2014 Yamaha YZ450F rally racer which was ridden by Cyril Despres with their racing numbers on the corresponding machines.
The papercraft has been created with huge amount of details in each part of the motorcycles and riders, including the carefully designed frame that is completely made out of paper. The tires are incredibly detailed too, with individual pieces of paper used for each row of knobs while the wheels themselves are made out of fourteen individual pieces of paper. The hand grips are are also separately designed from the rest of the handlebar.
