For petrolheads, one of the major thing holding back from converting into an EV motorist is the fixed range, after which riders need to wait for hours before their machines are once again charged to hit the roads. That all is soon to change.

StoreDot, an Israeli company showcased their new battery technology at the recently held CES 2015 event, showed their prototype battery housed inside a smartphone charging up to 100% in 30 seconds. The possibilities are endless with this new tech. Imagine not having to wait while your bike or car charges endlessly for hours, finally this tech is a solid solution to that problem. Forget the expensive fast-charging stations and cables now, this is what manufacturers and supplies should focus on. The best part, the technology uses bio-organic peptide molecules that are completely bio-degradable and non-toxic.

While in the video the battery used has a capacity of 900 mAh and charges safely to 100% in less than 30 seconds, the charging times for a larger battery, say something thats inside a motorcycle would be considerably longer. That said, the time to charge to 100% would still be drastically less (a few minutes at max) than the current Li-ion batteries. The best part is, if you are in a hurry and need to juice up just enough for the commute, then a minute or so would let you achieve that level of charge, amazing ? we sure think the same.

StoreDot’s next move is to present a car that is equipped with their technology. The company claims that the batteries in the cars would magically charge up to 100% is just three minutes. We wish them success and hope that this technology makes way into cars and bikes at the soonest without any wastage of time (of course, post passing all safety norms).
