After recently receiving a funding from the UK government of £4 million that is to be used for setting up a new facility, creating more jobs and developing new models, it has been revealed that the iconic British marque Norton Motorcycles is developing a brand new V4 engined sport bike.
The news comes from British motorcycle website Bike Social, which has revealed sketches of the new motorcycle. The motorcycle is believed to be a 1,200 cc V-4 that would produce close to 200 bhp of power. This new engine is similar to the Norton SG models that have been raced at the Isle of Man TT.
The new Norton super bike will be going head to head with the likes of the Ducati 1299 Panigale. The engine will be developed by Ricardo Motorcycles and would reflect typical styling of British motorcycles.
According to reports by Asphalt and Rubber, there is also a smaller 650 cc parallel twin sport bike in the works which would be slotted as the more affordable of the two.
If the new 1200 cc V4 is anything like the Isle of Man Norton SG motorcycle, then it would surely be a aural delight to hear. Even after skimming the sound to road-legal noise levels, the motorcycle would still be a vicious sounding machine.
