If you have gotten used of seeing sky-high price tags on cars that are usually sold at the RM Auctions, this particularly well-maintained old FJ Cruiser will be a welcome exception. The 1973 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser is going on sale on September 7, at the RM Sotheby’s London auction, and we reckon that it would sell almost instantly given its auction price of £35,000 – £40,000.
There is hardly any introduction needed for the legendary FJ40. Right from its styling that went through a very welcome update in the 70s to its 125bhp 3.9-litre engine, the Land Cruiser has been made in the millions since its first introduction in 1955, all the way till 1984. Like all Toyota cars, there is nothing to doubt about the reliability of this old FJ Cruiser even today, 43-years after it first rolled off the factory floor.
This particularly gorgeous old FJ Cruiser has spent its entire life in relatively lavish comfort with an Italian gentleman. The car, while build for more hardcore work was mostly seen cruising along the Adriatic coast, comforting its original owner under the summer sun for 25-years. The current owner acquired the car in 2015, wanting to customise it to his personal taste, a gloss white paint scheme was applied while the engine compartment was detailed along with a full restoration, replacing what was needed with original parts.
If this old FJ Cruiser isn’t the ideal car for summer cruising, then nothing else is.
