Described as ‘Our Sea’, the Mare Nostrum Chronograph PAM716 has been relaunched by Officine Panerai and will be available by mid-2017. The first Mare Nostrum Chronograph was developed by Officine Panerai back in 1943 and was only meant to be worn by the deck officers of the Royal Italian Navy; however, they never went into production due to the turmoils of the Second World War. Fast forward to 1993 and the first re-edition of the Mare Nostrum was offered for civilian use for the first time. Mid-2017, Officine Panerai will be relaunching the Mare Nostrum Chronograph with similar specs and design dating to the era before Panerai was acquired by Vendome.
The Panerai Mare Nostrum Chronograph PAM716 will be housed in 42mm diameter case made out of brushed steel and will boast a power reserve of 42 hours from the OP XXXIII caliber movement. The timepiece is equipped with a tachymeter as a mapping unit for speed along with radium filled watch hands for viewing the time in low light conditions. The Panerai Mare Nostrum Chronograph will be limited to only 1000 pieces.
