During the frosty February month of 2017, the “Legend Boucles Rally” was occurring in the south of Belgium. This is the first proper rally event of the year in the country. Open exclusively to classic cars which are at least 25-years old, the Legend Boucles Rally presents a chance to photograph some of the most fabulous cars from the romantic era of motoring.
With 2 days or rally over 20 special stages, the Legend Boucles Rally takes us through some of the most stunning, unexplored parts of Belgium… All of it in the beautiful echo of some of the best machines from the period. The participating cars are classified into two different categories:
– Legend: The fastest time wins on each special stage
– Classic: The ones who are the closest to the average speed of 50kmph (31mph) on the special stage wins.
In this type of rally, you can see many different cars from different eras of rallying but mainly from the 60s to the 80s. Fords and Porsche 911s are really the most represented cars that you see on the special stages that stretch over asphalt and also through forest roads, some of which are famously known for being part of the RAC Rally.
If you like rallying, then you would be quite familiar with Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul as competitors at the WRC championship. For both the Belgians, the Legend Boucles Rally is home turf so it was quite obvious that as participants that weekend, they managed to win the special stage and also the entire event.
I hope you will enjoy the pictures and I hope you will see more of them in the future. This is my first collaboration with ColumnM of many more to come.
See you around the Apex. GVI
