Peter Schutz- The Man Who Saved The Porsche 911

In the year 1980, Porsche had been experiencing falling sales for which the company thought it would be best to discontinue the 911 and replace it with the transaxle models – Porsche 924 & 928. Peter Schutz came in as the new CEO (U.S) and quickly implemented a tighter regime, addressing quality control issues, motorsport planning and off course the fate of the iconic 911. The Porsche 911 that was to be discontinued from 1981, thanks to Peter Schutz, was ordered to be kept in production with improvements that were necessary to make it appealing again, resulting in the 3.2-litre Carrera from 1984.
