A builder should not only know the ‘hows’ of building a motorcycle, but the latest trends on the streets as well. And that is exactly what Studio Motor which is headed by Donny Ariyanto is all about. Studio Motor was born in 2003, and is based out of Jakarta, Indonesia. It has been closely monitoring and featuring the trends since then, making the heads turn as far as custom culture is concerned. And that is when Studio Motor entered into building cars and motorcycles from 2014. Donny calls this Studio Motor Yamaha XV535 cafe racer, ‘The Clyro’.
Transforming a ’97 Yamaha XV535 into Studio Motor Yamaha XV535 was rather a challenge taken by Donny. It all started with modifying the rear end of this mid-size metric cruiser, the swing arm was replaced by taller Showa mono shocks and custom sub frames. While the rider’s position was made more aggressive by bringing in clip-ons, custom rear sets, the rider’s weight placement was taken care by upside down Yamaha R6 front end shocks. The stock Yamaha rubber and rims were replaced with TK Japan custom rims measuring 18 x 3.00 inch and 16 x 4.00 inch which were shod with 4.00-18 and 5.00-16 Firestone Deluxe Champion tyres. While the rear got LED tail lamps integrated into the tail loop, the front end came a 5 inch DRL headlight and bar end indicators. The custom fuel tank took place of the stock one, and a hand stitched leather seat was cleverly placed in the mid-section.
