Federal Moto which is based out of the wild rose country and the windy city was formed with true passion for motorcycles in it’s core. With passion comes ambition, and the goal at Federal Moto is to drive and share that passion for motorcycles with everyone. Federal Moto which in itself claims to be a true wanderer, is a centre for soft goods and one-of-its-kind motorcycles for the everyday adventurer located in Edmonton, Alberta. The Sunshine State Of Mind from Federal Moto which comes straight out of the heart of Federal Moto is one of the prime examples of this philosophy laid down by the builder.
The Sunshine State Of Mind is based on a 1978 Yamaha SR500 that has been given a very adventurous look. It all started with a search for a builder who could collaborate and work with Federal Moto for this build. The man who came onboard was Michael Muller from Powder Monkees and after searching a single cylinder donor, a process to create small, simple and fun-to-ride motorcycle was executed. This custom built rare beach tracker, gets a Yamaha TT500 fuel tank and Honda TL250 headlight. While a Triumph Street Triple mono shock at the rear replaced the older one on this Yamaha SR500 tracker, the supporting framework went well with the custom seat and the Bates taillight. A Motogadget m-Unit was hidden away in the shallow electronics tray which also held all the cabling comfortably. The single-cylinder air cooled engine was not played much with, however, a pre-jetted bolt-on Mikuni carb was fitted which came from Dime City Cycles. With minimalist choice of parts, this beach tracker took shape which has a fresh, light colour palette and wild dual-sport Metzeler Karoo 3 tires, ready to be ridden from the city streets to the mountain peaks.
