To celebrate the 85th birthday of the man who created the original Tag Heuer Autavia, Mr Jack Heuer, the company has launched a limited edition Tag Heuer Autavia Jack Heuer edition watch.
These watches will be limited to just 1932 pieces, which is in reference to Jack’s year of birth. Off these, the 1/1932 edition will be part of the ‘Heuer Parade’, an auction organised by Phillips on November 11 in Geneva.
The Tag Heuer Autavia was made into an icon back in the 1960s by racing drivers such as Niki Lauda. Earlier this year, Tag Heuer had launched a re-issue of the iconic watch at Basselword 2017. The name Autavia was derived from the watch’s target market, ie. AUTomotive and AVIAtion.
Compared to the Tag Heuer Autavia watch from the golden age of motorsport, the 2017 edition boasts a larger diameter at 42mm as compared to the 1960s watch, which had a diameter of 39mm. Photos: Tag Heuer.
