Salinas – 18th August 2017
Not far from the Werks Reunion is another big show of Friday on Car Week; Legends of the Autobahn. The focus is on all German cars with the exception of Porsches. Last year the weather was overcast, thankfully not so for this year and bright light bathed all of the Autobahn killers.
In the Mercedes area, the outer edge was defined by a row of AMGs from different eras and bodies. A yellow SLS is one of the corner pieces to the row which also included a monster Brabus G-Wagon. Interestingly, an 80’s utilitarian version was also on display showing two very different interpretations of this classic box of a design.
A few other noteworthy Mercedes caught my eye. The 600’s sheer size did that, as well as a yellow 190E in very special Merc in DTM clothing. The BMW representation is always good there too. Several model specific areas for the 3.0Cs, the 635 CSi, the original E30 M3, and 850’s were fun to see.
Audi also had a few cars on display, spotted a beautiful Audi GT Coupe and a red Quattro, obligatorily photographed of course. Enjoy the rest of the photos and continue to catch up on all of the great shows of the 2017 Monterey Car Week on ColumnM.
