The Toyota Supra might not be a new model, but it’s still a popular choice for car lovers because of its power and the fact that it is nearly infinitely customizable. It Can Handle Power


A stock Supra, with its twin-turbo engine, would generate around 320 horsepower, but it can easily handle more than that. On the upper end, the stock engine can handle between 700 and 900 horsepower without too many modifications. Be on the Lookout for Problems

A new-to-you Supra should accelerate and brake smoothly, and run cleanly without smoking when you’re trying to move. The body should be in good shape — which isn’t hard, as the MK III and IV Supras were known to be particularly rust-resistant — and the interior should be clean and free of mold and mildew.

Upgrade Your Differential

The differential on the Supra has always been a beast, but if you’re planning on taking your new car to the track, it’s a good idea to upgrade it. Not only will that give you a brand new differential to use and abuse, but it will also keep you from getting stuck if the stock one in your Supra has taken some damage or is getting ready to fail.


While you’re at it, take a look at your gearbox. An automatic gearbox can only handle up to 500 horsepower, while the manual can handle twice that without needing any modifications.
