Touring Cars has been the heart and soul of BMW Motorsport since the 1960s. Since the introduction of their New Class mid-size sedans and coupé back in 1961 that pulled BMW out of solvency and established the brand for making fast, sporty sedans, setting the German company as an international brand. This new class of sport sedans from BMW excelled the brand in motorsports and was the backbone of the creation of the “M” brand of cars for BMW in the 1970s. The BMW M1 was created, followed by the infamous BMW E30 M3.
The BMW M3 E30 went on to become the most successful car in the history of road racing and literally brought in front an era of Supertouring. The BMW 318i and 320i won several touring car championships in that era, including the British Touring Car Championship, French Supertouring Championship, Super Tourenwagen Cup, Italian Supertourismo and the Australian Super Touring Championship.
Adrenalin is a film that beautifully documents BMW’s motorsport, specially its touring car legacy. The creators, Stereoscreen have created one of the most comprehensive motorsport documentary on the iconic German brand. The film takes through a journey of 50 years of BMW’s motorsport work that includes original documentation and interviews with more than 30 people who were involved directly with the brand’s success.
Below is the trailer of the film “Adrenalin”. The full 2-hour long film can be rented out on the production’s Vimeo channel for further viewing. Hit up BMWBlog to read more about the history of the BMW M3.
